Story of my life
Here it is folks! Your 2018 ALF Boston Marathon Team! Look at all of those beautiful faces.
Oh, you're wondering where I am. I, unfortunately, though not unexpectedly, I was down the street breaking into an "out of order" bathroom at CVS :/ Kim tried to warn us all:
However, my enthusiasm for proper pre-run hydration got the better of me.
Luckily, we got to embarrass someone else later that morning.
Here's Will, right after we sang Happy Birthday right on the side of the course:
All in all, it was a great run, with some amazing people. Even better, we followed it up with food and drink at the social at The Social.
Coach suggested that we each think of 1 to 3 things that we did well and 1 to 3 things that we could improve on. I love this idea.
Overall, I had a good run, so I wouldn't change much. But:
-I will plan my bathroom breaks before the start better ;)
-Except for the water stop at mile 4 (gotta see my people) and the cheering station at Newton Wellesley Hospital (same) , and stopping to hug any other friends or family on the route, I need to not come to a complete stop at every water stop. After what I have seen volunteering at mile 4, I may get flattened if I try anyway.
What worked well?
- I feel like I paced myself pretty well.
- My fueling was successful (I need to get some of those salt tablets Amy gave me.)
- Once I started feeling discomfort in the ball of my foot, I did a good job pulling my form back in line.
All in all, I am ready for the big day!
Go Liver!
