So here we are, day 2.  Don't worry, I am sure that my enthusiasm will level off at some point and I won't be posting every day, but at this point, I am super excited :) Training is still pretty easy.  Four easy miles today, to be specific. If you are reading this, and you have donated to the ALF on my behalf, thank you!  You know, I was originally going to hold off on running the marathon until I could qualify.  I was really anxious about fundraising.  I hate asking people for money.  One part of running as a charity runner that I had not anticipated, however, was the team it would create.  First, there is the ALF team.  I have only been to one team meeting so far, but it was awesome!  What an amazing group of people.  I am sure that you will hear more about them as training progresses.  Then there is the team of people supporting me through contributing to my fundraising.  I joked in my fundraising letter about being pai...

And so it begins...today was my first training run for the 2018 Boston Marathon.  Woohoo!  I am very excited.  Coincidentally, my first run has landed on Giving Tuesday, which makes me feel especially motivated today.  The program has started out easy, 4 miles on/off (1/2 mile) M/E pace.  In real words, four miles, alternating each half mile between easy running and running at my marathon pace.  I have chosen for my goal a finishing time of four hours and 45 minutes.   If I did that right, that means that I need to run each mile at 10 min 30 sec (feel free to let me know if I botched that up.)  At the end of the run, I decided to walk a half mile because, well, just because.  Since it was 17 degrees out, I decided that my first run would be on the treadmill.  Let's hope it warms up by the time Saturday's team run rolls around...
